Home battery
5 kWh Home Battery
Storage for a home’s essential loads, charged by solar during the day.
- 5 kWh
Products
MOSON energy storage systems store solar power for use at night and during outages. We make home batteries in 5 kWh and 16 kWh, high-voltage batteries in 5 kWh and 16 kWh, and an all-in-one storage cabinet for commercial and industrial sites.
Home battery
Storage for a home’s essential loads, charged by solar during the day.
Home battery
For homes that run more appliances, for longer, or need backup when the grid goes down.
High-voltage battery
A high-voltage battery for systems built around a high-voltage hybrid inverter.
High-voltage battery
Larger high-voltage storage for homes and small businesses with bigger loads.
Commercial & industrial storage
Battery and power conversion in one cabinet for shops, farms, processing sites and offices, sized to each site.
Home batteries come in two voltage classes. Which one you need depends on your inverter.
| Feature | Low-voltage battery | High-voltage battery |
|---|---|---|
| Nominal voltage | 48 V class, usually 51.2 V for LiFePO4 | Usually 100–600 V, from modules connected in series |
| Inverter | 48 V hybrid or off-grid inverter | High-voltage hybrid inverter |
| Current for 5 kW | About 98 A at 51.2 V | About 24 A at 204.8 V |
| Cables | Thicker, to carry the higher current | Thinner |
| System efficiency | Typically 90–95% | Typically 95–98% |
| Adding capacity | Add batteries in parallel, even years later | Add modules in series, best planned at installation |
| Installation | Simpler; 48 V is safe to touch | Qualified installer only; DC above 120 V is dangerous to touch |
| Cost | Usually lower per kWh | Usually higher per kWh, but needs only one hybrid inverter |
| Typical use | Off-grid and backup systems, small businesses, step-by-step expansion | Larger homes and businesses, new systems built for efficiency |
Typical values for LiFePO4 home storage. Efficiency is round-trip for the battery and inverter together.
Match the battery to your inverter. A 48 V (low-voltage) inverter needs a low-voltage battery, and a high-voltage hybrid inverter needs a high-voltage battery. Low-voltage systems are simpler to install and easy to expand later, and 48 V inverters are widely used in off-grid and backup systems. High-voltage systems run at lower current and are slightly more efficient, which suits larger homes and businesses. If you are not sure, send us your inverter model.
Add up the energy you use after sunset and during outages. If your evening and night use is around 4 kWh, a 5 kWh battery covers it with some margin. Homes that run a fridge, pump or air conditioning often need 16 kWh.
